The Traveling Timber Towns, by Fayrene Benson, Jimm Jacobs, Bob Burke, and the Oklahoma Forest Heritage Center was designed and produced by Circa, has been a successful project for the Forest Heritage Center. All the photos are from the digital archive that we produced. Each photo is fully restored. At the present, the museum has had to order additional printings of the book four times to meet demand.
The Oklahoma Forest Heritage Center People of the Forest Exhibit
The “People of the Forest,” exhibit opened in June of 2003. This exhibit went on to win Top Exhibit in its budget category in the 2004 Oklahoma Museum Association (OMA) awards program.
Soon after, in 2005, we designed and produced a book for the FHC. Our first book, The Traveling Timber Towns, was awarded the 2005 Top Publication by OMA. This book, written by Bob Burke, gave the FHC the opportunity to expand the story of the traveling timber towns and use more photos than the exhibit could allow.
In 2006, we produced an educational exhibit, entitled “Tree Bear.” The purpose of this exhibit was to educate people on the many uses of wood.
In 2008, we produced another book, The Civilian Conservation Corps of McCurtain County, by Jimm Jacobs, Jackie Jacobs, Kurt Atkinson, and Michelle
Finch-Walker. This book also won Top Publication from OMA.
